My first goal when meet­ing with patients is to get to know them. This helps to estab­lish a rap­port and builds trust. Sec­ond, I like to under­stand what brought them in to see me. Patients have busy lives and for them to take time out of their sched­ule to see a physi­cian needs to be under­stood. Is there some­thing I can help them with today or is it a chron­ic issue that needs to be worked up? As a facial plas­tic and recon­struc­tive sur­geon, I see a wide vari­ety of patients from patients that require clo­sure of defects in their face after skin can­cer removal to patients who want a younger and more refreshed look. I val­ue the dis­cus­sion with the patient where we come up with a plan togeth­er by pro­vid­ing options. By involv­ing the patient, they are able to take own­er­ship of their care which I find leads to the best outcomes.

What’s great about facial plas­tic and recon­struc­tive surgery is the vari­ety of con­di­tions I get to treat. I have a spe­cial inter­est in recon­struc­tive surgery after Mohs pro­ce­dures for skin can­cer, pri­ma­ry and revi­sion rhino­plas­ty, and the aging face pop­u­la­tion includ­ing facelifts, eye­lid and brow lifts.
