In 2022, we were hon­ored to have this ded­i­ca­tion reward­ed as Duly’s Inte­grat­ed Oncol­o­gy Pro­gram was accred­it­ed for the third time by the Amer­i­can Col­lege of Sur­geons Com­mis­sion on Can­cer (CoC).

The CoC is a col­lec­tion of pro­fes­sion­al orga­ni­za­tions ded­i­cat­ed to improv­ing sur­vival and qual­i­ty of life for peo­ple with can­cer through stan­dards set­ting, pre­ven­tion, research, edu­ca­tion and the mon­i­tor­ing of com­pre­hen­sive care. 

This accred­i­ta­tion is a tes­ta­ment to our com­mit­ment not only to care but to our com­mu­ni­ty. Here’s what it means for us — and for patients and their families.

Duly’s Com­mit­ment to Excel­lent Can­cer Care

Over the past decade, Duly’s Inte­grat­ed Oncol­o­gy Pro­gram has evolved into one of the strongest and high­est-qual­i­ty pro­grams in the area. 

Dur­ing this time, we have marked many impor­tant achieve­ments, includ­ing the devel­op­ment of our gyne­co­log­ic can­cer care team, the cre­ation of a stereo­tac­tic body radi­a­tion ther­a­py pro­gram, and the expan­sion of our oncol­o­gy ser­vices into the south suburbs.

In Octo­ber 2022, Duly’s Inte­grat­ed Oncol­o­gy Pro­gram received its third Com­mis­sion on Can­cer (CoC) accred­i­ta­tion sta­tus, dis­tin­guish­ing the pro­gram as one of the best for can­cer treat­ment. Also accred­it­ed in 2015 and 2018, Duly con­tin­ues to deliv­er the pin­na­cle of qual­i­ty can­cer care services.

To earn this accred­i­ta­tion sta­tus, Duly’s Oncol­o­gy Pro­gram met stan­dards in 34 dif­fer­ent areas. We received not­ed strengths on five stan­dards, includ­ing all oper­a­tive stan­dard mea­sures and pal­lia­tive care ser­vices. Accred­it­ed facil­i­ties must also cre­ate a can­cer reg­istry to track and ana­lyze trends — and this data is then added to the CoC’s larg­er registry.

Nurse nav­i­ga­tors act as a bridge between patients and their med­ical teams, assist­ing with every­thing from sched­ul­ing to edu­ca­tion. The world of can­cer can be a con­fus­ing one and can leave you with more ques­tions than answers. Nurse nav­i­ga­tors are a key part of the expert care we pro­vide, and they are a key ele­ment of our patient-cen­tered experience.
