What is Microneedling?

Q: What is microneedling?

A: Microneedling is the use of tiny needles that create micro-channels in the skin. These micro-injuries” trigger your body’s healing response producing collagen and elastin to strengthen the underlying structure. At the same time, this allows serums to penetrate the skin for better results.

Analogy: Picture aerating your lawn. These little channels allow you to fertilize the lawn which creates a strong root system that ultimately produces a stronger plant. Our goal is to create a strong support system under our skin to prevent wrinkling and texture issues.

Q: What areas of the body can I treat?

A: Micro-needling can be used on all parts of the body, including the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

Q: Is microneedling painful?

A: We numb the skin with lidocaine for 30 minutes prior to treatment. This allows you to enjoy the treatment with no discomfort.

Q: What is the process of the microneedling procedure? What can I expect during my visit?

A: After cleansing the skin, we apply lidocaine cream to the areas being treated. After about 30 minutes, we remove the numbing cream and apply an anti-aging serum to be needled into the skin. The actual needle depth will be determined based on skin type and can be adjusted throughout the procedure. After needling, we apply the anti-aging serum again and finish with an anti-aging mask to cool and hydrate the skin.

This is a great treatment for those on the go, as there is virtually no downtime. You can anticipate a mild sunburn feeling for a couple of hours and possible pinkness for not more than 24 hours.

Q: How long does microneedling take?

A: The whole procedure should take about 60 – 75 minutes, depending on the area(s) treated.
