Duly Health and Care Makes Bivalent Boosters for COVID-19 Available for Patients Aged 12 and Older

DOWN­ERS GROVE, Ill. — Duly Health and Care is offer­ing biva­lent boost­ers to patients aged 12 and old­er who com­plet­ed the COVID-19 vac­ci­na­tion series at least two months after their final dose.

The Illi­nois Depart­ment of Health (IDOH) is report­ing 26,127 new con­firmed and prob­a­ble cas­es of COVID-19 in Illi­nois, includ­ing 70 deaths since August 26, 2022, and has issued pub­lic health warn­ings about the rise in cas­es going into fall. The IDOH went on to state the biva­lent boost­ers made by Mod­er­na and Pfiz­er are expect­ed to increase immune response to the virus and pro­tect against severe COVID-19 health out­comes includ­ing hos­pi­tal­iza­tion and death. 

“These new vac­cines are designed to offer added pro­tec­tion against the omi­cron vari­ants we are see­ing — which are now the dom­i­nant strain of the virus,” said Mia Taormi­na, MD, FACOI and infec­tious dis­ease expert for Duly Health and Care. ​“For this rea­son, regard­less of the pri­ma­ry vac­cine received, we are rec­om­mend­ing patients aged 12 and old­er be con­sid­ered for a biva­lent booster.”
