Duly Selected to Participate in American College of Radiology Learning Network to Improve Patient Outcomes through Wider Lung Cancer Screening Use

April 06, 2022

DOWNERS GROVE, IL. — Duly Health and Care will join 22 teams across the healthcare industry as part of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Learning Network — a new initiative designed to improve cancer diagnosis in patients.

We are honored to be selected by the ACR and excited about the potential we’ll have through this collaborative approach to help our patients flourish,” said Dr. Rajit Shetty, radiologist for Duly Health and Care.

The ACR received nearly 200 applications from facilities across the country for this first-of-its-kind program to broaden the radiology community. The rigorous selection process for the first cohort will help to establish a foundation for cohorts to follow.

Lung cancer kills more people each year than breast, colorectal and prostate cancer combined. Annual lung cancer screening with low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) in high-risk patients significantly reduces lung cancer deaths.[1],[2] Yet, less than 15 percent of Americans who should be screened are tested.[3],[4] The Lung Cancer Screening Improvement Collaborative — one of four improvement collaboratives that includes the ACR Learning Network — seeks to increase this screening for those who need it and optimize the lifesaving ability of these exams. “

We are looking forward to working with fellow members of our collaborative to improve cancer screening and diagnosis by sharing best practices and innovative strategies with the ultimate goal to improve health outcomes for our community,” added Dr. Brett Collander, pulmonologist for Duly Health and Care.

The teams will work together to solve the same problem at their respective institutions using a structured improvement process customized to their local environment. Participation in the second cohort will open in fall 2022.
