DOWNERS GROVE, ILLINOIS and SOUTH BEND, INDIANA— Ambulatory surgery centers operated by Duly Health and Care and its South Bend, Indiana partner, The South Bend Clinic, have earned recognition on Newsweek’s 2022“America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers” list. The Surgical Center of DuPage Medical Group (which is now known as The Surgical Center of Duly Health and Care) in Lombard, Illinois is among just 25 top-ranked facilities in Illinois to be recognized on this prestigious list, while The South Bend Clinic Surgery Center is among 12 Indiana-based facilities and the only in Michiana.
Both facilities provide multi-specialty access to surgical care without requiring a hospital stay and maintain a surgical site infection rate of less than one percent, which is significantly lower than the industry standard. Both are also among the busiest ASCs within their respective states.
To create the list, Newsweek partnered with Statista — a statistics portal and industry ranking provider — who conducted a study through a series of independent surveys. The Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2022 list highlights the nation’s top ASCs based on quality of care, performance data and peer recommendations, relative to in-state competition. According to Newsweek, medical experts from all over the country participated in the surveys, which were conducted between July and September 2021.
Survey respondents were asked to recommend up to five ASCs in their home state or a state they were familiar with if their home state was not one of the 25 states. Respondents also ranked several quality variables including the management of patients and safety measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for appointments, quality of surgery preparations, quality of surgical care and quality of follow-up care.
Studies have shown that ASCs, like The Surgical Center of Duly Health and Care and The South Bend Clinic Surgery Center offer higher patient satisfaction, lower infection rates and lower costs for the patient when compared to the same surgical procedure performed in a hospital setting.
